Sometimes unconnected
I know, i shouldn't be writting one after an other. I have some problem with the connection. It will be fixed next week. Also i wrote "the treasure box" yesterday. Actually, i would like to share with you some news from my country, they are also related to our topics in the class. Two days ago, there was a big flood in Istanbul. 31 people died and many people injuried. It was improvidence of the government and the other high status people and also politicians. There is a river near by highway. Past years, they built new buldings, shopping centers, hotels etc. So they made the river smaller but they didn't think about possible flood or they just didnt want to think. Now politicians are fighting about whose mistakes are more. One of the paper which is best known to be close to the party in power says whatever happened is old government mistake. The other newspaper says no that was imporividence of present government. Who cares whose mistake was it? There were 31 death body. Maybe 31 members of different families. Young, old, middle age, women, men. Even if someone finds whose fault was, can you give those people life again. In my opinion, we Turkish people love dog fighting but you cant find anyone when the time for doing better. My anger is coming from i have lived in istanbul and i knew as other people who live in istanbul, there is some infrastructural problem. Ankara is the capital city, however, Turkey is maneged from Istanbul. Let us say what is New York for the USA, Istanbul is the same for Turkey. Probably, in couple weeks many people will forget those 31 death. And they will never talk about it until it happens again. What a shame for us.

Hi Serkan,I watched the news. That's really terrible flood. And I feel sorry for the people who died in this event.Actually my boyfriend was in Istanbul at that moment, thank god he is fine.Let's hope your goverment will do something good for this tragedy death.Inshallah.
ReplyDeleteI understand, Serkan. When Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana and devastated New Orleans, many Americans felt the same way as you do. There are many infrastructure problems there, and perhaps much of the flooding, death, and destruction could have been avoided. I hope the Turkish government does what is necessary to prevent tragedy in the future, and that the families of those who died find some peace.
